In the suburbs of Chicago, Jayceon and Leah were all set to start their new lives together as husband and wife. In Jace, Leah thought she married the perfect man until she accidentally stumbles across his deleted secret that quickly turns her sanity, and their marriage, upside down. The night before Jayceon marries Leah, he hits the record button on his iPhone when the curvaceous dancer—Jessica Fox—from his bachelor party makes her way back to his hotel suite. Soon after, the nasty recorded mistake comes back to haunt Jace, and the stripper, in the worst way possible. The life Leah planned with Jace rapidly spins out of control when she becomes obsessed with the X-rated video, and the girl in it. Leah will do whatever it takes to right her new husbands wrong, even if it means getting rid of Jessica Fox for good . . .

Rating: 3 out of 5.

She’s Obsessed is the story of two toxic, selfish people who should not be together. The two main characters, Jace and Leah, are so emotionally immature that it’s almost painful to watch them have to work out their issues, which they essentially don’t because they are too selfish to sacrifice anything or think of each other. It all starts because Jace cheats on his fiance the night before their wedding. It’s stated that Leah knows he steps out on her and doesn’t mind as long as he doesn’t parade it in her face, so it’s super confusing that she goes nuts when she finds out he cheated on her because she found out by accident. So Jace is a man-child obviously who cares more about himself than the woman he says he loves– I have no respect for cheaters. So right off the bat, he sets himself up as a pretty unlikable guy who I can’t sympathize with because I don’t pity people who suffer the consequences of their actions. Leah is set off on a path of unstoppable vengeance. She is utterly unhinged, which is the most entertaining part of the story. She goes off the rails, and the sheer chaos of her anger and revenge is pure bedlam. It’s a lot of fun, even if she is also massively unlikable. But the thing is, you don’t have to like the characters of a book to enjoy the ride they take you on, and sometimes the fact that they are abhorrent makes the journey even more fun because of the absolute anarchy of their actions. There’s no happy ending, either. Just a big hot mess that gets worse and worse until it crescendos into its fatal, unstoppable climax. Good times.
